Requirements to become a New Mexico Security Guard

To be an authorized licensee, you ought to meet the following:

  • Be a US resident
  • For level 1 be 18 years old and more
  • Be 21 years old (for levels 2,3)

How to Apply for the Certificate?

Note that entry forms are submitted online. Just visit the Board’s website.

You should fill in all the required spaces. Also, attach 2 recent photos. Applicants of all the layers will submit their training documents. For grades 2 and 3, it is also required to attach copies of a high school diploma. Grade 3 applicants, along with all the other data, will have to attach an evaluation from a licensed psychologist.

The application fee:

  • Layer 1 and 2 is $50
  • Layer 3 is $75

All the appliers need to submit fingerprints. This is essential for establishing a positive identification. As a matter of fact, every future officer of the state undergoes a full background check.

It does not always limit only to criminal background checking. It can sometimes include investigation of credit reports, also, examination of motor vehicle reports.

Safety Guard Certificate Renewal

Before refreshing the certificate, there are some extra classes. Thus, to maintain the certificate, it is obligatory to cover additional 4-hour courses and training. Upon renewal, guards should represent proof of taking the compulsory educational program. Thus, without it, license renewal is impossible.
